Animeplay Reviews Welcome to my reviews. First up is Front Mission 3 and then Trigun.

Front Mission 3

Front Mission is actually a fairly long running series for Square. The mech strategy RPG has created a big fanbase in Japan, but was never translated for the US (at least not for the PSX). Now, we have our turn.

The battles are strategy RPG fair. You move your mech around, doing hand to hand fights, launching missiles, etc. These fights are usually done quite well, but that is it for gameplay. There is no world exploring, talking, leveling up, only fighting and buying weapons. This is my problem with the game. Although I loved Final Fantasy Tactics, the battles were more RPGish, and more fun (mechs really dont do it for me, nor futuristic stratRPGs.), plus there were side quests and world exploration. So, for the most part, you fight, watch the story unfold, fight, watch the stroy unfold, etc. Which can be good, not just for the long time period this game has. The battles are good, and the storyline is great, but the game can really only get from me 3 and a half *'s.

Trigun

What would you do if you had a 60 billion dollar price tag on your head? What if you were feared far and wide by people who believe you have killed thousands, destroyed entire citys, and never been hit? And what if you were just a dopey nerd who has never shot one bullit, and is never shot because he can dodge bullits (can you say Matrix?)? Well, that's Vash the Stampede for you. Very much in tune with Cowboy Bebop, the episodes are all seperated, as apposed to runing together via a series. The episodes can be funny, and there really isn't that much plot to them. The violence is very over the top and silly/cartoony. You could almost label this a children's anime, since it reminds me of an old western show for kids, except animated. The animation is quite good, as is the dubbing, and the show can be pretty funny. All in all though, the action is pretty good, the show is funny, and the morals of the stories are so light-hearted that this can be a good show that anyone can watch (as apposed to having Pokemon or Sailor Moon so unbearable as to no one except dumpy 9-10 year olds can watch it). 4 stars.
