Here we have Final Fantasy IX, Legend of Mana, Threads of Fate, Lost Universe, and a quickie of A.D. Police.

The next FF episode enters, marking the closing of the PSX with it....Final Fantasy IX is developing fast, making it's mark in October(July in Japan)....

Final Fantasy 9 will be reverting back to the old roots of RPGs. While sadly not being 2D, the character designs will be more akin to 6, with animal characters(think Mog), big heads, and wizards. The main character is Zidan Tribal, a 16 year old thief. The next is Adelbert Steiner, a 33 year guard for Garnet Til Alexandross the sevententh. The other characters are: Freija Crescent, a female knight with a personality complex; Eiko Carol, a 6 year old; Quina Quen, a creature who sure likes food, and Salamander Coral, the strong/tough guy of the party. There will be a job class for 9, like in 5 and T. Gameplay is strict RPGing. Little is known on the story, more soon.

Legend of Mana

Legend of Mana is part of Square's summer lineup, following after Vagrant Story. This game is not a strict RPG, as the most interesting and promissing part of the game is it's 2 player ability, where 2 people can control different characters.

The meat of the gameplay also differs from standered RPG's. Most easily compareable to Tomba!, the game consists of different missions at different locals. The farther from the focal point of the game (home) the missions are, the harder they get. There are usually many missions for each location.

After completing missions, you get artifacts. You can use these to create dungeons, or towns. While the purpose of this is unknown(like the final goal of the game), expect this to be a fun part of the game.

Different characters will join up with you and leave from mission to mission, making battles varied. During battles, you can learn skills by using other skills. These skills are often related to whatever armor or weapons you have, making for customization.

Threads of Fate

Brave Fencer Musashi's sequal-in theory, Threads of Fate, is Square's next Platform-RPG. 2 playable characters, Mint and Rue, go through the game solving puzzles, killing baddies, etc. Each person has different skills; Rue transforms into different creatures, while Mint uses magic to defeat enemies.

Two different storylines appear through the game. Rue is on a mission to bring his sister back to life via a rare ruin. Mint, however, is a magician bent on world domination. The two characters meet up, but don't act as a party.

I loved Musashi, and ToF looks to be just as fun. More news as it comes.

Nuclear Dawn

The next Survivor Horror title is coming to us from Activision. Instead of zombies, though, we fight nuclear terrorists who have taken over a train with the ambassidor of somewhere hostage.

The gameplay consists of running back and forth through train cars, shooting baddies, flipping switches, etc. Aint nothin' wrong with that. Except it's been DONE before....

The game does look promising, but I'm gonna just stick to Syphon Filter 2 unless it improves before release. More news soon..

Lost Universe

Anyone who frequents this site knows I'm a big fan of "Bounty-Hunter Sci=Fi" anime. Outlaw Star and Cowboy Bebop are 2 of my favorite OAV's. I also like a good laugh every now and then, hence my love for Slayers. Now, the creator of Slayers is making a Sci-Fi anime title, Lost Universe. Drool....

Kane Blueriver is the main character of this title. He's the captain of the Sword-Breaker. His bounty assignments come from a mysterious person of the Public Service Office. Apparently this means the assingments are bad ones. The supporting cast consists of Millie Nocturne, ex-private eye, and Canal (the holographic image of his ship's computer). More news as it appears.

Quickie Preview: A.D. Police

A.D. Police is the prequil to Bubble Gum Crisis 2040. It goes back even farther than Bubblegum Crash. ADP is an OAV series chronicaling the time when the Knight Sabers weren't around, and the people had to rely on the ADPolice to stop rouge boomers. **Note** This title is early in development.
